What is Celebrate Recovery (CR)?

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program that helps people find freedom from life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Unlike traditional recovery groups, it is built on biblical principles and the teachings of Jesus, while still following a 12-step framework similar to Alcoholics Anonymous. It’s open to anyone struggling with addiction, unhealthy behaviors, broken relationships, or emotional pain.

How Does It Work?

Weekly Meetings

Usually held at churches.

Start with a large group session that includes worship, a teaching on recovery principles, or a personal testimony.

Small Groups (“Open Share”)

After the large group, participants split into smaller, issue-specific groups (men/women separate).

Safe, confidential space to share struggles without judgment.

The 12 Steps + 8 Biblical Principles

Modeled after AA’s 12 steps, but paired with verses from the Bible.

The “8 Principles” are drawn from the Beatitudes (Matthew 5).

Step Studies

A more in-depth, small group study through the 12 steps and 8 principles.

Designed for deep healing and long-term transformation.

Sponsorship & Accountability Partners

Participants are encouraged to walk with others who can provide support and accountability.

The GoalCelebrate Recovery isn’t just about stopping destructive behavior — it’s about finding spiritual, emotional, and relational healing through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and building a supportive community along the way.
